Welcome to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bridgeport, Nebraska. We are a congregation of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and a member of the Wyoming District. By God’s grace, we gather around His Word and Sacraments to receive the forgiveness, comfort, and eternal hope found in Jesus Christ.
At St. Paul’s, you will find reverent Lutheran worship, faithful biblical preaching, and a congregation committed to hearing, learning, practicing, and sharing the Gospel. We believe that the Christian faith is not built upon changing opinions or passing trends, but upon the sure and enduring promises of God revealed in Holy Scripture.
Whether you have been a Lutheran throughout your life, are returning to church after time away, or are beginning to explore the Christian faith, you are warmly invited to visit. We understand that attending a new church can feel unfamiliar, and we want you to know that guests are always welcome. Our pastor and congregation are glad to answer questions and help you become familiar with our worship and teaching.
St. Paul’s has served Bridgeport and the surrounding Nebraska Panhandle community since 1943. Through changing generations, the Lord has continued to preserve this congregation and provide opportunities to proclaim Christ crucified and risen for sinners. We remain thankful for those who established and strengthened this church, while looking forward with confidence to the ministry God continues to place before us. We invite you to join us as we receive God’s gifts, grow in His Word, care for our neighbors, and confess the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. At St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, we rejoice in the rich treasure of the Lutheran Confessions. These faithful writings do not replace Holy Scripture, but clearly confess the biblical faith handed down through the Church across the centuries. In the Apostles’, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds, and in the confessional writings gathered in the Book of Concord, we hear a clear witness to the Holy Trinity, the person and work of Jesus Christ, the forgiveness of sins, Holy Baptism, the Lord’s Supper, and salvation by grace through faith. This confession joins us to the one holy Christian and apostolic Church, not as a new movement built on modern ideas, but as heirs of the faith once delivered to the saints.
That continuity is also expressed in the beauty of historic Lutheran worship. Our liturgy carries the words of Scripture, the songs of the Church, and the pattern of worship received from generations before us. It directs our attention away from ourselves and toward Christ, who comes to serve His people through His Word and Sacraments. In reverent prayer, faithful preaching, ancient creeds, and enduring hymns, the Church gathers around the gifts of God. At St. Paul’s, we are grateful to receive this inheritance, to teach it faithfully, and to share its comfort and hope with our neighbors in Bridgeport and throughout the surrounding community.
