Christian Education
Why is Christian Education important?
The short answer is that through Christian Education, we nourish our faith. We are fed with the knowledge and understanding of the Holy Scripture. Jesus taught his disciples at all times.
When do we begin our Christian Education?
Christian Education begins in our baptism. Jesus commanded us to go and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. When we bring a child to the baptismal font, we promise to nourish his or her faith by teaching the Scripture and the Catechism.
Who should participate in Christian Education?
Everyone is welcome and invited. There are opportunities to learn and to teach. For children and adults of all ages, it is never too late to start or to continue. Jesus opened the minds and hearts of the disciples on the road to Emmaus by teaching them about the Scriptures.
What kinds of opportunities are there at St. Paul's for Christian Education?
- Sunday School for Children up to 6th grade. They meet on Sunday morning during the worship service.
- When your child is at the age for First Communion, parents are invited to speak with the Pastor to arrange instruction time. Each class is prepared according to the needs of the child and the family.
- Children who are in 7th and 8th grade are invited to be part of a two-year Confirmation program. During the first year, we study the Bible, and during the second year, we study the Catechism. Also, students are encouraged to attend Confirmation Camp at the end of each June during the two years of instruction.
- For adults, we offer Bible Studies, seminars, and workshops on different themes. Adults of all ages have opportunities to deepen their faith and increase their knowledge and understanding of how God works in our lives every day.
